Unit 5: Chow Down (Healthy Eating Choices)
This module introduces four key elements to kids living a healthy
lifestyle that can lead to a longer life with fewer health problems
as an adult. Based on size of class, age of students and time
allocated, this module may contain all or a selected number of
these learning subjects.
Module 5.1: Turn On
Eat the right stuff (based on the US NDA Food
Pyramid)
Pizza is a natural food delivery system
Monitor total daily intake (carbs, cals and other stuff)
Module 5.2: Turn Off
Cut-back on the wrong stuff
Childhood obesity behaviors
Module 5.3: Take Time
Maintain a regular eating schedule (breakfast,
lunch, snack and dinner)
Module 5.4: Plug In
Establish good eating habits (pacing, chewing,
etc.)
Chocking prevention and intervention
Module 5.5: Size Up
Eating proper proportions (moderation)
